What is Earthnova, and how is it related to Youngzine?

Earthnova is the old Youngzine with a new look and a new name! The new name reflects the mission of our organization -- to empower young people to imagine a new Earth that is sustainable and nurtures future generations. The new website is easier to navigate and leverages the latest technology, and has a lot more GREAT content! 

Is there an age group that Earthnova caters to?

Earthnova is accessible and available to everyone, whether 8 or 80 years of age! Anyone interested in learning about climate and sustainability will find content that is comprehensive and developed with climate scientists and educators. For younger readers, the Climate Core articles are written at two levels. 

Where does Earthnova get its content from?

The Climate Core and Climate Series content are developed by the Earthnova team in collaboration with scientists and experts in the field. The website also features a few sample lesson plans created by an educator. 

We are proud to share that the news articles are written by high school students who join our editorial team and are mentored by us. Through this experience, selected high school students learn about global issues, grow their writing skills, and use their passion and voices to inspire their peers and younger generations. 

How frequently is the content updated?

We anticipate adding four News articles each week and one new Climate Series each year. Climate Core contains foundational concepts and will be updated infrequently and as needed. 

Why should I register to join Earthnova?

Registering allows us to gauge interest and content usage, which will help us refine and further grow our content offerings in the future. It also allows us to send newsletters about new content on the site and upcoming programs for youth.

How can I contribute to Earthnova?

There are MANY ways you can contribute to Earthnova's mission:

  • If you are a high school student passionate about the environment and sustainability, you can learn more on the Youth Program page and apply to join the team
  • If you are an educator interested in creating lesson plans that are aligned with our content and mission, we would love to work with you
  • If you are an avid photographer, we are looking to grow the Earthnova repository of images. As a free platform, we cannot afford to buy expensive images from commercial image platforms. Your photographs will be used in our content with attribution.
  • Finally, if you are a concerned citizen and want to be part of our growing mission, we welcome your contributions via the Donate link on the home page (shortcut here).
